Fianna is a historical fantasy otome visual novel loosely based on Irish mythology. Our heroine, Una, must play the role of a Witch when her fate intertwines with a band of mercenaries known as the Fianna.

CHARACTERS

Finn Mac Cumhaill is the young captain of the Fianna. He may not look like much of a threat, but underneath his lackadaisical exterior beats the heart of a true leader. Because his reputation often precedes him, the men he commands might admit to following him just to see what feats the legendary boy warrior will pull off next. Blessed with near-omnipotence that he uses his advantage, Finn plunges headfirst into dire situations and always comes out on top some way or another.

Kveldulf is a berserker from Norge who was banished from his homeland. As Finn’s lieutenant, he oversees the management and discipline of the Fianna. Kveldulf keeps his past a closely guarded secret, which has led to a series of rumors spreading among the men. In truth, he is the descendant of a troll, giving him unnatural strength and resilience. When the sun sets, Kveldulf becomes a slave to his temper, and even the smallest slight can set him off.

Decurio Nerva Cantius Esquilinius is a true son of Rome. His upbringing in the heart of the Empire instilled in him its many virtues: courage, justice, and efficient brutality, all of which are reflected in his exemplary military service. Despite his past triumphs in the Alps, his father’s political enemies conspired to assign him to a post in Britannia. Stuck at the very edge of civilization, he finds himself questioning what he truly believes in.

underrated gem, this was actually really cool and absorbing with the solid worldbuild setting and lore. i think there were just many references to history/myth bits that went over my head or either mixed up in my memories that I would appreciate a glossary/encyclopedia of related core facts if it were ever considered, though in the limited timeframe applying historical themes, it was already a blast of riveting story! The death/murder depicted sprite of certain characters successfully got me stunned in horror, too because wow. Isidorus’ dragged out punishment-to-torture was satisfying lol much deserved of him despite Esquilinius supposedly straight up get rid of him. I adored Finn’s moments, the teasing-vulnerable-trust dynamic with Kveldulf, and of course, the righteous Esquilinius’ development falling for Una. Delyth carried the characters on her back though cool OP mom that thankfully didn’t fall victim to some disaster like the usual other moms of a protag. That traveling by the ends opened up the brewing possibility of a sequel tbh, though it still tied up nicely for hopeful, resolved tone conclusion overall.

One Latin word usage that kinda confused me was the vitis when Esquilinius said he will beat Isidorus half to death with the vitis (which i searched for the meaning was grapevine?)

Recommended Route Order would be starting from Finn’s leaning choices, then Kveldulf or Esquilinius (due to the chronological reveal of the white horse’s name and how she mentioned about going on a ride with Esquilinius but not encountered when i did his route unless picking the specific choice to spend the time fishing with Finn from what i remember). I listed out the typos through here courtesy of the renedit tool; https://user-uploads.perchance.org/file/8687fd8ce323d4416c35d4bb2cbe33fc.txt

Thank you so much!! We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed it and are thankful to receive such detailed feedback.

A glossary is a great idea. We’re working on one more patch that’ll iron out the typos and make the endings a bit more in-depth (and add some other scenes and CGs too shh) so that’ll be a useful addition to help wrangle all the dang history and mythology-related words.

The vitis is a good example though. It was pretty much just a stick that Roman soldiers were beaten with when they misbehaved :D https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vine_staff

The scene with Esquilinius on the hill where we learn his horse’s name was supposed to be a “mandatory” scene that shows up no matter who you hang out with. But you’re right, it doesn’t show up if you choose Kveldulf and that causes a continuity error. Thank you for catching that. I…honestly have no idea how I missed such a glaring issue ŏ_ŏ ;

 Thank you again for the feedback and for taking the time to list out the typos!! That’s a huge help and we really appreciate it!

Can we rename the mc? :D

Not at the moment, sorry. With the historical nature of the story, we thought it might be a bit jarring to be able to rename her.

Totally understand, thanks for letting me know tho!! :D

FIONN?!? MY BOY FIONN MAC CUMHAILL?? HELL YEAH
